If you liked the PS1 FFs then you should check out Legend of Dragoon. It's made by Sony but it's very much in the same mould as something like FF7.

You know I've never understood this board's seething hatred of this game. I mean it's hardly anything amazing and it certainly doesn't compare to the all time greats but it's a perfectly fine game on its own merits. Who cares if it's an obvious cash in attempt on FF7's success if it's still a good game overall? Bad translation aside.

Yeah it's no surprise the only people who praise Legend of Dragoon as a masterpiece and one of the all time greats are people who grew up with it and/or played it as their very first JRPG. Not to say it's a bad game (and the hateboner for it around here is ridiculous) but it definitely wasn't the FF7 killer it was hyped up as. I'd still rank it higher than the "OOT killer" though (Dark Cloud, now THAT is an overrated pile of shit)
