I think Doom 3 is fairly flawed, but ultimately still a decent shooter.

They kinda are, which is why the chainsaw is satisfying because it has a mad fucking DPS.
With a bit of effort and adapting tactics, you can totally fight like 80% of the enemies with just that weapon alone.

Shame you can't get it much earlier or in the expansions.

This is why I like the chainsaw a lot, because you can bruteforce a lot of the maneuvering with it.

What's the best way to play Quake on a modern PC? For Doom I use Zdoom and for Wolfenstein 3D I use ecwolf. Is there any such useful external optimization software for Quake? Help me, faggots.

Largely, I'd agree, but try playing the game with the chainsaw to the largest degree possible, it's the most satisfying weapon in the game and the thrill of melee'ing all these monsters can get pretty intense.

Almost all enemies in the game can effectively be defeated by the use of the saw in some way, and most encounters too.

The trick to playing Doom 3 in the most fun way is to give yourself the chainsaw with the console early on and then try to use the chainsaw as much as you can for any and all fighting.

It's a really good chainsaw, and you can easily take the commandos with them, ducking and strafing is key.

But yes, the shotgun is just balls.
