this because it was the first game I ever owned, it was more like an arcade game for gameboy so not many levels
frustrating af when you're 7 years old and can't get past the penultimate level though

Why didn't more retro shmups have at least a cheat code they gave you at the end so you can access further loops when you want? Kirby figured it out, why didn't they?

It's not so much that it's just really easy. The programming is messed so that even on Nightmare mode where everything is level 99 and extra buffed, it doesn't apply to bosses.

The combat does kind of suck because you're stuck to just facing left and right, but it doesn't ruin the game and pic related is a good example that a game doesn't have to be hard to be fun.

Monster Hunter is a current AAA game and is harder than a lot of retro games that are considered hard.

This is my pick for easiest. I got it when I was 9 and beat it the first time I ever turned it on. Still love it even to this day though, it's a heck of a lot of fun.

Kirby's Dreamland.

I was 13 when I got it for a road trip we were going on and I beat it in one sitting before w even getting in the car. I remember my mom being disappointed that I'd beat it so quickly, but I told her it was fun and I'd probably play it more. Turns out I was right, kept playing the hell out of it through that trip and it became one of those go-to relaxing games of my youth that I played through dozens and dozens of times over the years.
