Doesn't matter what boundaries you set up, nobody will be truly happy. Doesn't matter what your cutoff ranking is, you can make the "top xyz games." Somewhere out there is a guy with fond memories of xyz+1.

I say limit it at a hard 100, it's a nice round number. If people don't like your 100 selections, or demand their childhood game be included, then they can make their own damn list. But ultimately it gets people talking about their favorite games, and the newcomer can then take notes on what else to check out.

Limit it to titles published in the general time of its formal run ... so basically exclude the modern homebrews.

Have a mix of:
iconic titles
groundbreaking titles
technological achievement titles

But ultimately all, must be enjoyable. Double Dragon I'm sure is quite the programming feat, but I would not impress that game on newcomers.

Even better question is if the game is fun in and of itself regardless of its lineage.

Does it look and sound like garbage compared to the original game it was ported from? Pretty much a given with all 2600 ports. Is it a fun game, period? Then it's worth playing.

I'm looking for split-screen retro games that 5-7 year olds might be able to play. We're playing on a PC connected to a TV with SNES style controllers.

They like racing games but up for anything. Current favorites are Bubble Bobble, Cruisin' World, Barney for Genesis, Smash 64 and Monster Truck Madness. Thanks

Do you have any friends that are into retro? I used to have a couple but ever since I moved to Oklahoma I can't find anyone who shares interest in older games.

Not sure if this entire thread is bait or not, but just in case: Play a few 2-player games to whet your appetite. Can be a casual, hardcore, coworker, old friend, whatever. I was talking to another 30-something at a Christmas party about Disney's Magical Quest 3, invited him over to 2-player it with me. Fast forward a few weeks and we're having the best night ever. It doesn't have to be cringey, it doesn't have to be weird, and it'll honestly make that collection of yours come alive.

I dunno OSU is pretty dense and has the kind of clientele that are looking to have intensely trendy fun while spending exactly their budget every week on it. It would mainly about making the jump from memes to reality... and flagrantly stealing all the signage and everything from actual Super Potato without paying them one thin dime.

Come do something about it fucking nips
