>I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as emulation, is in fact, emulation that requires different hardware, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, not emulation

Does it actually feel authentic? It's a fucking emulation box. Should I just buy real consoles instead?

Mister thread
The ultimate /vr/ FPGA hardware simulation platform.
News:
>donpachi core out
>PS1 core GTE timing matches original hardware at 100% on tests.

How accurate is MiSTer really? For all the talk about how FPGA allows for transistor-to-transistor logic how many of the cores actually do this? The upcoming PS1 core is literally just the Duckstation emulator isn't it?

>Are there any functional advantages to using the official USB daughterboard or will I be fine just plugging a splitter or powered hub into the DE10 Nano's USB OTG port?
>How much worse will the cores that don't require an SDRAM module run if you don't have one installed?
>Will the Sega Saturn core be able to surpass software emulators in terms of accuracy/compatibility or will it just be an passable recreation but with the benefit of less latency? Aside from the garbled audio it looks fairly promising so far, at least when it comes to Bug and Earthworm Jim 2. Not holding my breath until I see some footage of heavier 3D games like Daytona, Virtual On or Powerslave though, I hear that the DE10-Nano might not be on that level.
>Is the old MIST 1.4 still a worthwhile option if you just looking to play 8 and 16-bit systems but want something cheaper and more intergrated than the MiSTer?

what is the verdict on the mister? i'm on the fence to get one and it seems as good as analog's consoles for cheaper and with more systems.

So how does it feel to play one of these compared to a cycle accurate core in Retroarch

MiSTer
>Altera Cyclone V SE FPGA with 110,000LE (41,500ALM) and 5,570Kbit of Block RAM.
>ARM Cortex A9 dual-core CPU at 800MHz.
>HDMI video and audio allowing connect to any modern monitor/TV.
>DDR3 1GB available for both ARM and FPGA.
>High speed ARM<->FPGA interconnect due to both are in the same chip.
>Linux on ARM provides support for many I/O devices and file systems.
>Board is mass-produced by a large manufacturer and freely available for a relatively cheap price 130USD (99USD for students/professors).
