The ending was too much of a cliffhanger that ended up never being resolved and Steve is arguably the worst character in RE history.

I consider it a piece of SHIT that ruined RE. Where are the zombies? Where is Umbrella? Where is the inventory management? Where are the cinematic fixed camera angles? It's barely a RE game, more likely just got reskinned for franchise points once they realized how awful it was and wouldn't sell as whatever new IP they started it as.

It's really not a perfect trilogy and it hurts. Considering CV's ending, the cliffhanger is even gayer. Nothing is resolved and then the next game kills the franchise while brushing off all the loose ends.

RE4 didn't just kill RE as a series. It had a massive impact on the 7th generation of games as a whole. You can thank RE4 for every single grey and brown dudebro third person shooter made it the subsequent decade.

No, it really, truly isn't Resident Evil. That's the main problem. It took the series down with it and set a terrible precedent for the industry. You can thank RE4 for *every* single 7th gen ugly brown and grey third person shooter.

Some people don't like how it looked versus the prerendered backgrounds. There's more backtracking than usual. Worst part for me is the inconclusive plot, it allowed RE4 to ruin the series forever.

it isn't. too many instakills for my liking, though. Also it should've been a definitive, satisfying end to Umbrella, instead of the complete awful shitshow the series became with re4 and beyond.

Jill's Diary, simply due to the journey it takes to get there, it's a shame only RE3 had that little sidequest.

Here's a run I did. I'm no speedrunner, but it turned out pretty decent. There's a 50/50 chance of you getting either the magnum or the grenade launcher on RPD, and you will want the magnum. Gunpowders locations are also semi random, you'll always get the same amount of them but there's a couple different spawn points. Always get the freeze rounds. The acid Nemesis fight at the end always filters me and I waste a lot of time.
