The real shame is, not only was this outfit made for the modern western gamer, but the modern western gamer doesn't HONESTLY care. They will absolutely say "well it's obviously more realistic" as if that is the ultimate argument ender right there is terms of what all character design should be, but they will also say "who cares, it's just clothes." Capcom could have easily just left the classic outfit in and only a fee people would have made COOOOOOM comments about it.
The Japanese seem to have lost their "fun first, realism second" approach for these games, they WANT westerners to come on board and tell them "The west wont like this goofy shit, she should be practical." Look at REVII, look at Ethan, he just wears trousers, tan shoes and a dress shirt. That's it. Mia is equally as downplayed and also a little plain, quite unatractive even. These people will never make another STARS Jill Valentine, another Claire Redfield in all red denim with a patch on her back or think it's ok to make an American City streets basically a Japanese town with American flags and burger shop posters everywhere because they have been convinced that west is now king, realism trumps fun and that fictional characters must make adjustments for the very low bar that modern suspensions of disbelief will allow for. Cool characters are dead, we were lucky to get the (BETTER) classic outfits we did in REmake 2, the ones im sure most fans wear on multiple playthroughs instead of the boring defaults, because whoever is working at Capcom now could not have come up with those still iconic designs in a thousand years, even worse, they wouldn't WANT to.
