I’m pretty sure >>8513037 is right. There was debate between Miyamoto and Sakurai on what color he should be. Miyamoto wanted yellow Sakurai wanted pink. Obviously Pink won out but I’m pretty sure by the time DL had to come out in NA, NoA or at the very least the box artist wasn’t informed on the final color for Kirby so they just kept him white to avoid any issues since the game had no color anyway.
