Neither did you. I'm tired of zoom-zooms only knowing to play if a controller is attached. Back in the days, we'd be lucky to even have electricity to turn on the game. Most of the time, we'd just hold the cartridge in our hands and use our minds to connect telepathically to the game. Kys zoomer

NES edition

> only 2 buttons within reach of the thumb, yet two useless buttons in the middle of the controller. Why not give me 3 or 4 buttons I can reach instead?
> Dpad has corners missing. Not as good as Sega Dpads
>Cord is only a meter long in some countries and for all classic editions
> box shaped with sharp edges not allowing me to hold the controller comfortably

How long will NES controllers last? Will they eventually all break down with buttons that don't register properly any longer?

The actual layout is obviously good and logical, but the ergonomics of this are trash.

Isn't it the same as the NES?

Why did they put the D-pad on the left side? Most people are right-handed, so the more important controls should be on the right.

Is there a third party NES controller that doesn't suck?

Hey /vr/, what is the best default keyboard mapping for a 2D platform game with simple NES-like controls?

Because the games were made to be played with a D-pad controller like pic related

When a game is made to play with a controller and you try to shoehorn something like the power glove it just doesn't control right

The power glove was a third party add-on and the sensors really weren't good enough and the tech wasn't really there yet.

The power glove was more of a novelty, something to toy with, but everyone knew that the best way to control games was a controller

>play for 20 minutes
>thumb is aching and feels like it could fall off any second

What's happened to me, /vr/? My NES came in the mail today and it's been 15 years since I actually played one. I don't remember my d-pad thumb getting so achy when I was a kid.

Oh Fuck you guys! So anyways, I always found the rubber button pads in my NES controllers to wear out and tear. Luckily it's easily to replace these.

I've been buying more and more games and consoles lately and this is a slippery slope I'd rather not fall into out of concern for my wallet. I want to buy a flashcart or mod each of the consoles I buy but sometimes it just costs too much. Seriously, Everdrives are expensive as fuck.

What are some resources a beginner collector can use? Any websites I can order knock-off or cheaper flashcarts from? Any websites for games or accessories besides Ebay? I heard a lot of people use Craiglist but it's dead in my country so that's no help.
