Look forward to the results of your hard work. Reprogramming Xbox games does not sound like an easy task and I know it is not easy to acquire a modded Xbox with those upgrades, but I am glad you are considering the niche few users that may have those upgrades installed. Please share your work with the rest of us when you've optimized those great games.

Everyone here tells me to learn to solder and I'd love to use a spare Tualatin to upgrade the original Xbox. If only I could afford the equipment or have enough to hire someone to put up with such labor, I'd imagine it could help out with a lot of those games in performance that OP is patching. https://youtu.be/gH01qWijYwQ

It was recommended around the time Pentiums came around that a heatsink was recommended. I have a Pentium Overdrive processor that came with one attached with a default fan. Some electronics has protections enabled where it would shut off if the temperatures reach past a certain threshold to protect the chip itself.

I am still trying to find ways to improve the cooling and ways to attach more robust heatsink/fans to a Voodoo 5500 and the safe way to remove the legacy adhesive.

I am not looking for those cards to do 1440p/4k they do not have the ability to do so. I was thinking maybe a modern display paired with an OSSC or something for these old systems.

On the CRT thread, the kind anons there set me in a direction to check out Windas to fix one of my FW900s, and I am still reading up on the process. I am just fearing the day has come, where I have to use a modern display since my old CRT monitor is dying. So I am seeking what would be best of modern displays to use.

I remember they were advertised to have more surface area for cooling due to the threads on the pins. However, it is really heavy (outweighing even the largest of modern air coolers) and out of AMD's specs. I am leaning more towards the Arctic Cooling one since everyone is recommending that one instead.

Nice. Notes taken. I am looking forward to when these will be available at the fair price once we all get through this.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the hassles of old computers. I started back with a 286-12 long ago. Part of the hobby time machine build does involve these old headaches, but that was how things were. If I wanted convenience, I can just SCUMMVM or DOSbox, but I think it is kind of cool playing around with some of the old parts I kept and renewing with some new parts I never had the chance of playing with back then. The manual has been saved.

Bookmarked the site in preparation, thanks for the suggestion. This reprogramming is getting way too advanced for my slow mind, plus way too much equipment for my budget. The only thing I am more concerned with right now is if some Chinese generic old all aluminum 370 cooler (the left one in the pic) would be sufficient for the MMX 166/233 or if I can figure out that programmer the K6-III+. I think I can replace the old fan with a new brown owl fan, but I think it has to be one that's directly molex connected, so not the FLX or PWM ones, so I gotta get a 5V one at some point.

That sounds like a driver mess which may destabilize an already unstable Win98. I think it may be easier to use the mobo on the left with one of the ISA cards (Pro or AWE32) with only DOS drivers and a PCI card for Windows only. The Diamond Monster Sound is not the sound I remember/have for DOS games, and the only A3D game I played was Q3, I think UT uses EAX. The only other A3D games I may try are Undying and Alice (I think they use A3D). So maybe the Audigy alone would be enough. Please correct me where I may be wrong, as I skipped 95/98 to 2000 and I've only used Creative cards.
