You kind of hung a little bit too much on every word of my post here.

I wasn't thinking of Gulpin, though that is literally an amorphous blob, yes. I think the worst offenders tend to be the legendaries, which is a problem compounded by them often being the focus of the game now and being emblazoned on the box art.

I mean, come on, look at this thing. What the FUCK am I looking at? And don't give me the "outer space" excuse, you can't just make up some random shit with spheres, ovals, and half-moons and say it's related to something celestial.

Another problem is the rash of two-legged anthropomorphic donutsteels with disgusting color schemes. Now I don't begrudge them for this because kids eat this shit up, but Lucario is complete ass. Or like, Zoroark? Even the Bulbapedia article is like, "uhhhh it might be a fox, or a kitsune? or no, a werewolf. and it has kabuki makeup, yeah..."

>would you consider Ludicolo overcooked?
No, this is a clever design, and it's implemented well into gameplay.

>this is just a stupid thing to say; so because a previous generation had a snake, anyone coming after is a ripoff of it, huh?
Frankly, yes. Seviper isn't meaningfully different from Ekans/Arbok. Sure one's a viper and one's a cobra, but in terms of gameplay relevance this isn't that important of a distinction. There are non-poisonous snakes they could have gone with that would even have logical typings. Grass, water, ground, even fire or the weirder types would fit in with mythological snakes.
