Hindsight poisons Working Designs threads. People don't realize that the games they localized weren't going to be picked up by anyone else. Their translations were a product of their time but also relatively faithful compared to what localizations could be like back then (see: pic related). Localizations of obscure RPGs advanced beyond their work but they were also the pioneers that demonstrated there was a market for that kind of thing in the first place. People bitch about WD making Bill Clinton jokes but we're talking 2% of the game while other titles from other publishers were being completely reskinned. People bitch about WD making difficulty changes while other titles from other publishers were doing the exact same thing like Castlevania III. Zeroing in on WD as a uniquely evil entity is disingenuous.

i always saw this on the shelf at the video rental store and never rented it. i swear nobody else did either.
