Lets solve this issue once and for all, in reality, actual console gaming from NES to PS1 always run like this, slightly horizontally stretchy picture from its original but only VERY slightly in pillaboxed format, for 224p it also has top and bottom bars.

This is an actual console screenshot i took ages ago from an old AV capture card, yes i still use it.

Again, you probably took that from ZSNES, also you cropped it considering that Yoshi's Island on real hardware has blackbars on the top and bottom of the screen
