The controls are great, but the strength of the gameplay is that it's super fluid and fast paced with mechanics like wall jumping and air dashing, the scoring system also pushes you to keep on comboing aggressively so that even by destroying bullets with bombs as a defensive measure can keep your score going up faster, it's basically chaining like you would do in any STG with such mechanic, but applied to a fast paced 3D "run and gun", it's a masterpiece, and all of the stages are excellently designed.

>That stage when you are inside the city and can destroy buildings, trees and shit
>The bioweapon stage
>The computer room stage where you have to protect Annri
>The elevator stage
>The final fucking battle with the chessboard

And lets not forget the Arena battles for PVP with even the enemy characters as part of the roster.
