Not had a FW900 so I don't know if that monitor suffers from the same sort of fault, but these likely have very similiar designs so the issue could be the same.

Yea it'll work, it's exactly the same but for a 400% markup.

Not necessary, it's just that you end up doing that anway since you need to run old operating systems on a throwaway machine for WinDAS.

It's pretty hard to fuck up fortunately. Create a backup of the monitors rom as the first thing you do though.
