Think of Wolf4SDL as Wolf3D's Boom(first Doom source port to extend its capabilities somewhat) and ECWolf as its GZDoom.

I'll look for it and see if its any good.

The Wolf3D has quite a community of modders to this day still, although nowhere near as big, though.
There was this one WWI Trench Warfare themed one (not the one called Trench Warfare) that was actually really immersive.

If you want to see what the Wolf3D community has done in terms of modernized source ports, check out ECWolf and its techdemo .pk3. I think it actually incorporates some ZDoom code as well.
