/vr/ - Retro Games

Recs for short, simple /vr/ RPGs that are preferably on the easy side? I've never beaten an RPG in my life and I want to change that. Considering picrel since I'm already somewhat familiar with it.

I just played Final Fantasy on NES for the first time and I have very mixed feelings on this game. I feel like the PSP/phone port I played growing up is really close to making it good but the random encounters is still the biggest problem with this game. Sometimes I would take a single step after a battle just to get into a new one. Near the end I just wanted to throw my Wii out the window. The story was still enjoyable though despite it being overly simple. Overall I think that this game has not aged well.

Is it worth playing the original version of this game despite its flaws?

Are these the best? Iv been playing since they came out and im kind of tired of seeing the same sprites
iv given other games a few tries but they all pale in comparison
I tried eternal filena
smt series
and some other random ones
they all suck compared to final fartasy
either they are autistically hard and you can't advance unless you do EXACTLY what the game wants or they just plain suck

is this really the epitome of rpg's from the 80's-90's?
