Here's my customised Gameboy I made a while back. Would be neat to get a bit of feedback on it.

Now before you all shit your pants and accuse me of destroying original hardware; The original console was yellowed, scratched, the screen had lines in it (which was a cunt and a half to fix might I add), the battery cover was missing, the screen protector was gone, and the sound didn't work. If I didn't strip it for parts, I would have probably just trashed it.

Instead of doing either of those, I decided to try doing something unique and different with it. The sound on it is still not working, but I prefer to play it with headphones anyway, so it isn't a real problem.

GBC's can be frontlit, but not backlit.

Pic related is a regular DMG I modded ages ago with a blue backlight, and a few other things.

I "build" custom Gameboys pretty often, I /never/ use mint condition consoles for modding purposes. I can understand why that would bother you, as it wrecks a perfectly fine console.

I usually go on eBay or to a car boot sale, and look for Gameboys with damaged speakers, damaged screens, cracked/yellowed cases, etc, and repair them internally, and then backlight them.

Sometimes I paint the shell/housing, and other times I add a completely new custom case (depending on the damage). Audio-mods are doable, but they're useless unless you want to use the console for chiptune music, so I never bother doing so unless I'm making one for someone else.

Pic related is one of mine, I made this a year or two ago out of a console that had streaking in the screen, a cracked apart yellowed case, and the speaker was fucked. I've posted this a few times in the past.

I honestly don't see a problem with me taking a console that would otherwise be a parts bin, or a throw away job and turning it into something new and unique that actually works better than the product I started with.

DMG-01 modder here.

This is one of my old projects from maybe a year or two ago. Don't use this one any more because I have a GB Boy Colour (Backlit GBC Clone), and the screen is a lot easier on the eyes.

Posted it one or two times before. Feedback would be appreciated.

Repair/Modder general? Back from last thread with my (now clean) custom Gameboy.

Feedback would be appreciated.

Sure, why not. Are modded/custom Gameboy's welcome too? Here's mine that I built.

Thinking about selling it because I rarely use it any more.

I don't see an issue with it. I painted one of my beat up PS1's a while back, and modded a beat up Gameboy.

Pic related, it's said Gameboy.

Modderfag here. The issue can be resolved by doing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSU211U3bTw

I've had to do this shit countless times. It's a bastard especially when eBay sellers position the camera awkwardly so you can't make out the screen. It's easy enough to fix, though.

How much did you pay for that, OP?
