In terms of art design and music, what is the most beautiful 16-bit game?

My vote is Super Castlevania IV.

It's doable.

IMO the hardest thing about Castlevania IV are the last 3 or 4 levels. The cellar, the treasury, and stages A and B. The game starts off with seemingly easy levels (although stage 3 has some difficulty spikes on blocks 2 and 3), but at the end it gets some of the most challenging segments I've played on the series.

That fucking part with the chainsaw coming from below and you have to quickly walk your way up over some stairs that get broken once you step on them so there's no turn back.

My nigger.
Jumping Flash 1 and 2 are great.
If you want something similar, you can play Geograph Seal, a game released for the Sharp X68000 computer in Japan, it's more focused on shooting than platforming, but it served as the basis to make Jumping Flash, made by the same people, Exact.
They have also made Ghost in the Shell for PS1, a game that has similar crazy physics, and a unique wall/ceiling climbing mechanic. GITS is still one of my fave PS1 games.

As for Castlevania, I think all of the 2D Castlevanias aged like wine. SCV IV is still one of my favorite games of all time and I enjoy the fuck out of its controls, graphics and music everytime I replay it, which is fairly often. The same could be said about any other Castlevania really, they are just timeless classics.
