Geckling Knights, Castle Knights, Pirates and Rangers are some nice classes to have around in your first run imho.
You can also try to unlock Dragonite by recruiting Silver or Dragon Knight, it does cost quite a bit to upgrade but at least you can make your next MC a Dragonite, which is nice on characters like Sif.
Martial Artists are also pretty convenient now that I think about it.
