I'll post a few examples to keep the thread active.

Picrel is my gaming comfort food. Blew my mind as a tot and still has incredibly satisfying gameplay today.

Say what you want about the series or Nintendo in general, but you can't deny the fact this is arguably one of the best and most influential games ever made.

>solid gameplay
>camaraderie between squad mates makes you feel like you're apart of the team
>best OST ever (you know those songs got you pumped to shoot some alien ass)
>simple story that sets up a plethora of prequels/sequels/spinoffs
>arguably the most quotable game of all time

On rails shooters aren't supposed to be THIS good...but Ninty definitely hit a home run with this one.

What is the most quotable video game of all time and why is it Star Fox 64?

What are some games that are like Star Fox 64? Chiefly, being a shmup with a 3rd person, behind the ship perspective, but bonus points if there are multiple routes and hidden exits like in SF64 as well. I know there's also Panzer Dragoon and, well... is that it?

I know someone will bring up Sin and Punishment, but that's too shooting gallery-style for my liking with the disjointed aiming and moving and the stop-and-go gameplay. I like the Star Fox style of always moving forward (makes you react to stuff before they pass you by) and having to turn your ship toward enemies to aim at them (adds a risk element).
