Not with never-ending key and switch hunting, with fucking centaurs everywhere.

I like the idea of a medieval fantasy game in the Doom engine, I like the idea of puzzle solving, but the execution was just so terribly terribly flawed.

Endless key hunting, endless switch hunting, enemies that aren't fun to fight, weapons that could be fun if the enemies weren't so tedious.
I go around the levels, wishing for an encounter, only to immediately regret it because Centaurs are blockwhores. It's not like running into a Baron or Mancubus in tight space, and having to take cover behind corners, run and dodge projectiles while firing salvos at them, while avoiding the surrounding imps and zombiemen.
But no, not the fucking Centaurs, here comes one of the stock enemies of the game, oh, and guess what, he's a whoreson here to steal your time, it's not even about being disadvantaged towards the enemy, you were at a fucking disadvantage in Map11: Hunted, but yet it was still fun.

The entirety of Hexen felt like a chore to me, and to me, that's not the hallmark of a good game. It had nice graphics, sound, and design, but the gameplay was extremely unsatisfying to me.

I liked the serpent/snake creatures in the swamps, that was genuinely cool, to see them skulk about in the murky waters, I liked the magic weapons, I liked the look of the environments, I liked the idea of a long action fantasy adventure, I like what they did with the engine, but it was just not enjoyable.
