oddly enough, the local arcade community takes care of the machines when they can. Cleaning controllers, updating PCBs, putting new content and all, and it works like 4chan moderation : we all do it for free

Thing is, we're only allowed near only certain things, especially rhythm games since that's what rakes in most of the cash. So, the ITG and IIDX machines are the ones we take most care of, even though the ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL 32" WIDESCREEN COMPONENT 100KG CRT DISPLAY that IIDX uses (pic related, it's even /vr/ related until 8th style huehuehue) has its red phospors already dying down. Understandable, since it's been on almost 24/7 since 2005, presumably. But it's still sad to see that blue tinge all over the screen, knowing the rounds you're playing may likely be the last ones on it.

pricks are the only ones running arcades in italy, especially since they get so much cash with slot machines and just rely on those not caring about the actual video games.
Most of them are pirate copies anyways, there's a cab on some other arcade that lets you play super mario for 10 minutes a token. A zsnes version of super mario on a shitty pc with a dying crt.

It's basically niggerland funtown, and funtown is on fire.
