Hardware accurate emulation almost always requires more computing resources and comes with a performance penalty. Just for shits and giggles, I decided to download both ePSXe and Duckstation, loaded a copy of Gran Turismo on both, and set them up to replay the intro. Duckstation consumes 3 times the amount of RAM compared with ePSXe (pic related).

ZSNES is fine if you are using known good roms or are getting them from a trusted place. The biggest issue is the security bug if you browse shady sites and download and play an infected rom.
