Please help me get some crt goodness in my life.

Got an rgb modded turbo duo-r which won't boot games when hooked up to my sony crt tv, it hangs at the system menu. However it works perfect when connected to my modern lcd tv. I can't see how this is possible, its like the crt is sucking power from the console so the laser is too weak to read discs. Its connected by an rgb scart cable btw. I'm at the pearly gates but can't get in, what is this sorcery?
