I think that is a switch which is mechanical. It functions like plugging and unplugging cables manually. So I would expect the input to match the output, meaning S-video in will need a S-video out. If you are looking for a splitter, to have one device output to multiple displays/captures, those tend to be powered and is a different device. Some switches can output to more than one receiver, but I think the one you have pictured may just be a simple mechanical switch and not a splitter.

I recommend the gCompSW. It has sync regeneration which should assist with the signal quality. Coupled with its auto switching, it is also convenient too.

What if the cable end of that is detachable? It could just be the unit and the cable portion would be a less expensive manner to add other profiles/systems.
