And I'm not against them doing that. Heck, I'm even fine with the SF approach where the characters are all 3D models but the game plays in 2D.

My issue is with the change in art style. They threw out the old super stylish look that the games used to have and replaced it with a far more cartoony one. I've seen some people liked the change, but personally I hated it. Fortunately though, I also didn't like the gameplay changes much either, and the old games are still great.
