I recorded a deathless run of DBP20!
Recorded on Crispy Doom using the idgames release version
> https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/d-f/dbp20_dnd
I recommend watching it on GLBoom+ because these maps look really good in GLBoom but more importantly so you can fast forward - the run is about 55 minutes long. Remember to open the demo with the -complevel 2 parameter

> Scythe (2003) / Scythe 2 (2005) (each have 30 maps and 2 extra secret levels)
I recommend Scythe and Scythe 2 now, before you play any of the really modern stuff. Playing Scythe and Scythe 2 on Crispy Doom was among my favorite gaming experiences ever; I wish I could play them for the first time again.

Remember to read the accompanying text files - the author recommends you play episodes 1 and 2 of Scythe on UV, but turn it down to HMP on episode 3 because of the increase in difficulty.

> Preacher, 9 maps (2018) (plus 1 map with credits)
Preacher is currently my favorite WAD I've ever played. Play that on GLBoom+, or at least watch the demos on GLBoom before you start playing it on GZDoom, as GZDoom can't play Boom demos.

> Eviternity (2019) (32 maps)
This is a long one, but it's broken up into six 5-level-long episodes, plus maps 31 and 32 are not secret levels, you get sent there after map 15. These are THE best-looking maps that I am aware of. This was my favorite until I played Preacher. Play on GLBoom+ or GZDoom

> Hell Ground (2009) (7 maps)
This one was my favorite before I played Eviternity and Preacher. Play on GLBoom or GZDoom - if you use GZDoom, also load "hg_lights.pk3" for bright maps

>Going Down (2014) (30 maps plus 2 secret maps)
You're not going to want to pistol start UV this one, that's for sure. Your first playthrough should be a continuous playthrough on Hurt Me Plenty, or, if you're determined to pistol start the whole thing, play each map on skill 1 or skill 2 first before going to skill 3

>lesser known
If you specifically want some lesser known ones, play Doomer Boards Project 20: Dungeons & Demons, pic related. It's 8 short but difficult maps - play on skill 2 for your first playthrough

Doomer Boards Project 22
> https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Doomer_Boards_Projects
Every month the ppl at Doomer Boards release a new set of short-ish, difficult maps. I REALLY liked #20 (Dungeons and Demons) and I would highly recommend it to everyone, pic related. It's medieval/Dungeons & Dragons themed; the zombie/sergeant sprites got replaced with the cultist sprites from Blood, the plasma gun is now cast from your hand, the BFG is now a scepter, etc.

I haven't finished #22 though, I get lost way too often in it so I'm playing Preacher instead. The theme is all the monsters are now cybernetic: the imp now shoots single plasma balls, the baron now shoots single rockets, etc. The name for the theme comes from a Sepultura song, "Biotech is Godzilla":
>Jello Biafra from Dead Kennedy's gave this song to Max and it's about how biotech weaponry is like Godzilla as far as comparison to destruction!
I get lost in it because the levels are like dark forests or half-buried tech bases overgrown by moss and trees. Their originality is 10/10 but these levels are too maze-like for me. #20 was frickin' gold though.

Number 16, "Cyb's Freaky Colonoscopy," was runner up for a Cacoward last year, but I haven't played it yet.

No problema. It's a lot easier to see in 4chin because you cannot greentext in the pastebin. Also, I forgot something again - the Chocolate Doom videos have 0 mods. The Crispy Doom videos have improved sound effects and weapon animation mods. I also have the spritefix mod but the effect is so subtle you won't notice it. And the GZDoom vid has like a dozen mods, but all cosmetic and they don't change the gameplay.

If you are planning on playing Doom1 I recommend the Crispy Doom source port, but then again, the GZDoom IDKFAv2 music mod for Doom1 does sound really, really sweet
