Poo does get much more useful. His unarmed attacks aren't always that hot, but he knows a bunch of PSI stuff which is handy to have, in a pinch he can heal and shield you.

There's a sword which only he can use, which makes his attacks much better, but you basically have to grind like hell against a relatively annoying enemy (Starman Super) which frequently gets paired with a -fucking- annoying enemy (Nuclear Power Robot). It's a very rare drop.

>Then again, I'm not really convinced that the gameplay is something worth playing it for, but rather the music and the world and just the overall experience. I think that it's an interesting game, I just don't think it's a very fun game to play.

That's what I thought about Earthbound (Mother 2) when I first played it trough, but recently, in memory of Mr. Iwata, I played it through again (without too many cheats at all this time), and managing food, MP for healing, and the rolling HP meter, is actually very unique and fun, stuff like a Territorial Oak or Atomic Power Robot exploding violently and you having to hurry to end the battle before your party member's HP rolls down is actually kind of exciting.

It's true that the world and setting is the main course of Earthbound, but the gameplay itself is actually pretty fun if you get used to it.

I haven't played the NES one really, but I hear it's supposed to be bogged down by absolutely staggering amounts of random encounters.

Been there, done that.
Fuck I hated the Atomic Power Robots, particularly when paired with the Super Starmen, THAT was hairy. I basically ha Jeff use the Heavy Bazooka in place of his regular weapon just to make sure I could put out as much damage as fast as possible.

But then there's the Nuclear Power Robots by the end of the game, those motherfuckers are NOT fun, certainly not when coming with the Final Starmen. I'm not even sure that them exploding is the worst part of them by that point-

I mean, the Smilin' Spheres and Territorial Oaks aren't commonly matched up with anything too terrible or monstrous, but the fucking Atomic Power Robots, goddamn.
The fact that they often accompany particularly nasty monsters, and that they can HEAL themselves and others (and lets not forget that the Super Starmen can resurrect other monsters, including the goddamn Atomic Power Robot), you've got a recipe for a really difficult and drawn out battle.

But I am not Ness. I'm playing a game where the character is Ness.
Why should I name him after myself? It's really unfitting for me to do that and it would really take me out of the game.

I doubt people who play Persona are the only people who don't name the MC after themselves.

Please understand anon, he's autistic and can't help it.

This too, it would be very strange if Anon called out for Anon to pray for Anons safety.
