Am I seriously the only person on this board who DOESN'T watch camwhores trying to get famous on Youtube trying to tell me shit I've already known for twenty years?

When I watch a gameplay video on Youtube it's always because I want to take a look at a newer orobscure game I'm thinking about getting. I always pick the longest one there is and click around to random moments to get a general feeling of the game and on the rare occasion that I have the volume up AND the gameplay is actually narrated, the guy's always about as charismatic as a half retarded 14 year old and that's how I like it.

Yeah, see part of why I started the thread is to ponder exactly what the difference is. I agree that back in the day "graphic adventure games" is what we called them, but that was mainly to draw a distinction from text-based adventure games... By today's standards it's kind of a misleading term.

But on the other hand, "visual novel" also implies a less game-like experience than what I'm looking for.

So I'm kind of at a loss on how to really describe what I'm looking for exactly but "retro 'visual novels'" felt close.

Pic related I may give this a whirl. Didn't know it was retro until doing my homework for this thread.
