King of Fighters has better designs then Street Fighter, Last Blade has better designs then either of those, and Darkstalkers has the best designs in the entire genre.

FF has some great characters but the boss characters of FF2 always annoyed me since they felt so clearly "inspired" by SFII's bosses. Geese, Krauser, and Yamazaki are amazing characters but I don't think I've ever heard of a Laurence or Axel fan. I'm probably in the minority but I think Art of Fighting's cast is more likable then Fatal Fury's in all honesty.
