The thing that gets me about the 3D version of Final Fantasy III is that it was almost made for consoles instead of handhelds and thus would've been so much better.

Did Square ever have an explanation for the Wonderswan cancellation? The Final Fantasy IV port seems to have been made as consolation. There was a rumor that Square lost the source code, but I'm not sure I believe that, considering they went ahead and started work on it.
