technically it was a VTech Socrates. Had a Genesis and then shortly after a SNES for a long time, but those were shared with my siblings and I only casually played sometimes. Didn’t even know the N64 was a thing until it was already out and my boomer dad accidentally rented an N64 cartridge for my SNES from blockbuster. I imagined the playstation as like a trainset or playhouse for kids when I first heard the name. Remember the first time I saw 5th gen consoles, at a slightly older kid’s house who my sister was babysitting. He showed me Ocarina of Time and the 3D blew my little 7 year old mind. Like a fresh hatched duckling, 90s Nintendo shit imprinted on my mind when this kid showed me Pokémon, Nintendo Powers, Mario and all kinds of other stuff he had that I never saw or was only slightly familiar with. Got an N64 and Gameboy color next two Christmases and had autism ever since. I wonder how my life would be if I mentally attached to something more productive like sports or music at that impressionable young age. Oh well.
