/vr/ - Retro Games

Sup /vr/. I've been wanting to get into the Wizardry series and test my dungeon crawlan skills, but there are so many versions of all the games, so I'm wondering: which versions do you all recommend? I'm intending on starting with Wizardry I.

Have you played Arcanum yet? Baldur's Gate 2? Planescape Torment? Arx Fatalis? There's a fair amount of stuff from around mid-90s to 2004 that was good.

Out of the older stuff there's almost too many to name, and often very different kinds of games to boot.
A lot of these were already mentioned but you should check out:
Realms of Arkania series (2 in particular), The Magic Candle, Lands of Lore 1 (2 is not as good and 3 is shit), Betrayal at Krondor, Dark Heart of Uukrul, Wizardry 7 and 8, Might and Magic 3-7, Ultima 4-7 (maybe 8) and the spinoffs, Starflight 1&2, Darklands, Hero's Quest/Quest for Glory 1-5, King of Dragon Pass (semi-strategy but meant to emulate a tabletop RPG), Fate: Gates of Dawn, Gold Box games, Wasteland, Chaos Strikes Back, Amberstar & Ambermoon, Ishar series, Albion, Hard Nova, Sentinel Worlds, Captive 1&2, Bard's Tale series, Anachronox, Stonekeep.
