I really like Keio Flying Squadron. Everything about the game brings joy. The humor, characters, music, visuals, tech, and gameplay all are fantastic. The game is a system seller that makes the addon worthwhile.

I only got Dennin Aleste, Silpheed, Keio Yuugekitai, Soulstar, Bari-Arm, and Sol-Feace. Even if you add in Lords of Thunder, that's still just 7, which I wouldn't say is a lot, but rather few but great.

Game development isn't easy. The market didn't have enough incentives towards making quality games on less popular systems. Sega of America did try their best, but it was always going to be hampered by being Sega and their lack of popularity.

The PC-Engine had so many great games on the CD-ROM format with all the cinemas and redbook music, plus at the time the SNES was wowing its audience with Mode 7, so the Sega addon puts the system more in line with those two systems. The biggest thing that held it back was still the color limitations which was the biggest drawback they were unable to overcome, compared to the other systems. The games were still amazing, but the Genesis did need more colors available and onscreen to capture a larger audience in my area.

It is already abundant in games I like. My favorite, is probably Keio Flying Squadron.

There's quite a bit that I like. Most memorably fun for me were: Keio Yuugekitai, Denin Aleste, the Lunar games, Popful Mail, Sonic CD, Final Fight CD, Silpheed, etc.

I have observed most people dislike Sega and their games in general. It was a pretty good addon since not only does it provide the added storage, but adds more processing for effects like scaling/rotation which were pretty en vogue in its day. The PC-Engine had so much support for their CD-ROM^2 addon, I only wished there was as much support for the Sega one too. For games, I really liked a lot of the games like Keio Flying Squadron, Sonic CD, Final Fight CD, the Lunar games, Shining Force CD, etc.

While I like that addon as well a lot, I kind of prefer the larger variety the CD offers.

That's a loading screen image from the Saturn's game.

I think it was because the PC-Engine had so many great games and support with their CD-ROM games, plus the medium provided a lot of storage space to have cinematics, cleaner sound/music, and was cheaper to produce than cartridge chips at the time.

Soul Star is a pretty impressive looking game. Really showed how much Core Design programmers really cared and worked magic with Sega hardware.

I like a lot of games on the system. I think you'd have a lot of fun too. Some of my favorites include Keio Flying Squadron, Popful Mail, Robo Aleste, Final Fight CD, Shining Force CD, etc.

Pretty much the kinds of games that appeal to me on consoles. Sure there are games like Mike Tyson's Punch Out, NBA Jam, Burnout 3, Zombie's Ate My Neighbors, and Tony Hawk's, but retro anime console games were pretty much what appealed to me. On PC, I still really enjoy the anime games there too, but I think they had and equal amount of non-anime games I enjoy there alongside the anime games.

The CD has a lot of my favorites for the console. Great news that you will not have to deal with the cost of getting a CD unit with the announcement of the MegaSD. I also like the 32X, probably due to the price to enjoyment ratio when I got them. The 32X games are pretty fun and nowhere even close to as bad as they have been portrayed. Sega systems were never really liked in US and Japan, but I actually like what they had on offer.

I got some MegaCD games. Pretty happy with the collection, in no way complete, but I got most of what I want.

I think the story is just basically China. China has no respect for copyright, patents, trademarks, etc. They will find ways to make or do things cheaper and any way to cheat outsiders. They take pride in cheating others and there's no legal recourse. So when the original creator of the everdrives utilized Chinese manufacture, the designs/plans just "got out" and of course there are more cheaply made imitation flash carts I got. Of course they use cheaper materials, with no regard to voltages, so they run the risk of running hot and damaging/destroying consoles. Also they cannot be firmware upgraded, because as a countermeasure krikzz more modern firmware is designed to brick the Chinese bootlegs. So I wouldn't recommend getting them, gettting direct from Stone Age Gamer or Krikzz is best. I just happened to have a Chinese co-worker and she had her family order them from China for me, since they don't sell outside of the country, probably because they can't get away with selling bootlegs in the USA or it would be seized by customs, like they do with fake purses and Nike shoes.

It is a great companion to the NGPC. Especially since almost all of its games are worth playing. I cannot recommend it enough.

>>4831656
Not a single one of my Dreamcast games are even close to the cost of a real everdrive. After taxes and shipping, Stone Age Gamer has the SD2SNES at $220USD for the base no-frills model. Tony Hawk's were $5-$6 at the local Funko Pop stores, most are dating/quiz/visual novel/card games from the junk bins costing $5-$15. the most expensive I think I got for Dreamcast is Under Defeat which was new back then for $60 just because I wanted to play a shooting game and the Dreamcast was dying, but now Under Defeat is like $10 or less on Xbox or PSN, all a far far lower price than real official flash carts.

I don't think so. The PC-Engine had a lot of great CD-ROM games at the time, and it was a way for the Genesis to stay relevant alongside its competition from both NEC and Nintendo. I really like the games released for the addon.

I am confused. Pictured is a SegaCD, but the games described are for the Saturn. I like the Sega MegaCD and Saturn a lot. Admittedly, a lot of the games I liked were of Japanese origin, but there were good games on both systems/addons even if those Japanese games were not your preference.

Thanks. Great info for me there. That's a shame, as the Sega systems got love in the PAL regions and was hated in the NTSC regions. Everyone around me had Nintendo systems or NEC systems. Were there any good exclusive Euro MegaCD games?

I figure I can pump the RGB through a framemeister which could help with a 50Hz display, but I just wondered if a PAL MegaCD game would play at the correct speed with the unmodded systems I have (with assistance from the Everdrive X7 loaded BIOS).

I still don't have a SegaCD, I want one though. I just use the X'eye I found in an alley to play US SegaCD games at this time. SegaCD systems are expensive.

Yeah, the video has omissions. Sad to see my personal favorite, Keio Flying Squadron didn't even make that list. I didn't see the Lunar games. No Lords of Thunder, Robo Aleste, nor Android Assault. Popful Mail is great. Soul Star is impressive. Maybe Heart of the Alien. Rise of the Dragon and Monkey Island are nice. NBA Jam and NHL '94 are pretty good for multiplayer. I heard Eternal Champions, Road Rash, and Ecco are pretty good. Vay and Dark Wizard aren't too bad either. I would definitely have a much different ranking, but I enjoy too many games and would be hard pressed to start choosing how I'd rank them.

Yes, I have more, but those damn last 3 I cannot get for JP MegaCD.

On the CD side, I absolutely love Keio Yuugekitai. I am missing the manual to Rise of the Dragon which I think is a good alternative to Snatcher. Final Fight CD is great, but I really love it with Pyron's color hack: https://youtu.be/hw4G_ofpEQc ... and you can not go wrong with the Lunar games, especially Eternal Blue. Shining Force CD is very good. There's just a lot to love on the SegaCD.

Great choice. I think it was made when Nakajima Atsuko (the character designer for the animation, not original artist/writer of the comic) had peaked in her style (she later went with too bold of lines in later character design work).

I think Lum was before the time of most here. So I expect a lot of "this is what the dinosaurs fapped to?!" ... sadly, I did not see the appeal either.

Just want to point out this comment ... cus it's good.
