Not retro but Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song on the PS2 is one of my favorite JRPGs. In retrospect, I like it more than any of the PS2 final fantasy games. I was interested in trying out SaGa Frontier for this reason. I only have an emulator with no manual and I ended up choosing Lute first because I liked his design. Minstrel Song was difficult but this game really kicked my ass, i need to give it another shot sometime
