That's a great idea. For power supplies, we could list known safe voltage ranges, the size and type of connector, and any common replacements. I know for instance that an NES can be safely powered by a model 1 Genesis's power supply, and lots of consoles use that common square-and-semi-circle AC cable with no box. What's the proper name for that anyway?

>Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox
The Xbox actualy uses a slightly different cable; instead of the square-and-half-circle, which is polarized, it uses two semi-circles and is unpolarized. I'm pointing this out because an Xbox power cord will fit in a Saturn or Dreamcast (or FZ-10, PS1, PS2, etc.) and could damage those consoles if they do not receive the correct polarization. My Saturn came with an unpolarized cable by mistake, and I remember that I powered it on with the wrong polarization and saw the BIOS screen, but the video was dark and flickering, but the more distressing effect was that the disc started spinning backwards at an unusually high speed. I only left it on for a few seconds and it survived, but I doubt it would have lasted much longer.

ON/OFF/ON should be fine. When you use ON/ON, you still would have wanted to use break-before-make (brief period of no connection when switching) instead of make-before-break (both selections connected very briefly), and break-before-make is basically a fast ON/OFF/ON.

I've taken the pictures for the Saturn teardown, so I've just gotta write up the guide. I also took pics of every board, top and bottom. And yes >>729748 , it was a VA SD. I didn't take apart the drive, though. I'd rather not touch that until I need to.

After the Saturn guide, I'll do a controller teardown and a cleaning guide, probably for a 3-button Genesis controller since I have one I need to clean. I'll get to work on power supplies soon too. I'll try to take legible pictures of the text on the power supplies I have, but I'll also transcribe the text in the articles.
