As much as I still enjoy Underground he's right. The neon spinner ricer era didn't even last 10 years and everyone think it's cringe now but they jumped on it because it was the hot shit at the moment. In contrast a game like Porsche Unleashed was about real proper car culture that's been established for several decades and is still respectable and non-cringe.

Nintendo makes some great games but sadly a good portion of their fanbase are manchildren who treat their games as their lives. You have two types of Nintendo manchildren: Those like OP who needs nintendo to forever be exactly like they were at a specific time (usually their childhood because it's when they were happy), and those who views anything Nintendo does as perfect and worth being excited about like an 8yo because if Nintendo sucks at any point, they have nothing to live for since being excited for the next Nintendo product is their life

Why make any effort when your fanbase is willing to throw money at you because of some insane sentimental attachment. Same shit with Pokemon fans paying full price for low effort garbage every year. They could put twice as much effort and budget but it wouldn't make them any more money. Modern Nintendo is all about making consumers believe they're their friends and family and making sure they have an emotional attachment, not about the games themselves
