The opposite it's an assumption too. I've seen more Metroidvania or Mercuryvania fans talk shit having played only three or four titles than classic fans who usually have played the whole series and talk based on their knowledge.

I enjoy them too. For me Legacy of Darkness and Castlevania 64 are good games and genuinely good Castlevanias.

The rest range from Very Good to Meh, with Harmony of Dissonance as the only Fucking Awful one (I still play it from time to time)
