/vr/ - Retro Games

Hey folks. I'm looking for information on sound propagation in Doom. The monsters can be heard across the map, which is so the bosses in E2M8 and E3M8 aren't drowned out by distance when they scream, and generally sound scarier.
What I'm curious about is if this is also the case on E4M8. Either search engines are terrible now, or I haven't landed on the right combination of words to find this info (or both), but I can't seem to find where I got this info from originally.
