It's surprisingly nice desu.

I've been DDing a 20" PVM but this thing is actually big enough to comfortably do couch multiplayer . Even at 20" I still feel compelled to pull the chair up pretty damn close, but this is much better for 2 and 4 player stuff.

Convergence isn't that great, but I only notice it when I'm sitting in my autist close setup. From my social 1.5-2 m distance it's fine. "Neutral" sharpness seems to be about ~40% to 50% on the slider, with "Edge VM" set to OFF.

Contrast is not as good as the PVMs, it tends to crush blacks. Jacking up the brightness fixes the blacks, but then crushes the whites.

Also the screen "regularity" or whatever isn't as good as my PVMs, my 20L5 has one slightly dark patch but this thing has several of them. They are quite noticeable on games with flat backgrounds like SMB1, not noticeable at all on THPS2.

Sound is like 7/10, it's a couple of orders magnitude better then my PVM, but still not near as good as my $50 computer 2.1 set. It has an *acceptable* bass response, but nothing to write home about and as a bass guitarist I find it quite lacking. Still, the ~120 hz range bass is 'audible', and it doesn't make me feel like I immediately need to set up a speaker set like my PVMs and mono consumershits do. One nice touch is that mono audio on the left channel is automatically routed to left and right, so you don't need an adapter.

Composite actually looks BETTER than my PVMs. I think this must be due to the comb filter, which the PVMs lack. This plus the automatic mono adjustment means I'm finding my stock NES front-loader actually playable.

Anyone here modded a consumer trinitron for RGB?
