You could also do the following if you're playing original hardware: 1) play through Fusion, which as the most linear Metroid is easiest for newbies, 2) after getting a complete save file, then link up your GBA to Metroid Prime on GameCube to unlock NES Metroid.
You can also do the inverse (beat Prime then link to Fusion) and link up to unlock the Fusion Suit in Prime, which..is kinda lame ngl, you won't even notice the difference most of the time, it should've just let you unlock the classic Power Suit in Fusion instead.
