I think general drop in quality in Doom 1, 2 and many MANY mods comes with the increase in difficulty, often having to make the maps either bigger or have more enemies and often it can become tedious to deal with and navigate through if the flow of the player is broken for any reason.

Are there any wads out there that get really hard but also the harder they get the better they become? I know most wads end up becoming just tedious and stupid when difficulty spikes.
