I'm a huge sucker for generic fantasy.
My first TES game was Daggerfall, and I've played each one sequentially since then always around the time of release (if not at the time of release - like Syrim). Even in spite of them changing the lanscape from Jungle to Verdant greenery I immediately fell in love with Oblivion. It looked great, it played pretty well, Jeremy Soule did an excellent job on Onlivions OST, and I still feel that its shrouded in mystery - in short it just engrossed me in a way a video-game has not since.
Morrowind is a much better game from a gameplay and story perspective, heck the world is flat out alien (in a way that many modern Sci-Fi games would struggle to portray). It seems really stupid to try and justify, because Morrowind is everything I say I want in an RPG (cool world, dice roll combat, stats that matter, level gated areas etc.) But Oblivion was and still is my preferred experience - maybe I just really like bad dialogue.

I never played many obscure games but I almost never hear anyone talk about this one
