Get good, if you had done that you would have realized you don't get knocked back when crouched and there are places where you won't get knocked back into pits either way

I like the Dracula fight because it rewards good play. If you manage to beat the first form without dying, and only if you do so, you should have enough hearts to just spam subweapons for the 2nd form.

However most people who complain about DXX didn't even play the game long enough to realize about basic game mechanics such as the number of subweapons you can throw at once being tied to the number of hearts that you have

I don't consider the pits in Dracula "bad design" because

>there is a way not get knocked back when you get hit
>with proper placement it's also possible not get knocked back into the pits if you do get hit
>there are ways to avoid damage, like you can hit & destroy the fireballs in the first form, or use an item crash which gives you a real long animation full of i-frames
>there are ways to cheap Dracula, webm related
The game also has a checkpoint right before the boss and lets you choose whichever subweapon you want against him every time you die

It is hard, but it is fair. You need to learn from your mistakes to beat him and actually get good; unlike many CV bosses (CV3 comes to mind) in which you can get away by standing in one place and just spam the whip.

Dracula is a pushover if you use the axe. Both forms, but the 2nd one specifically.

Now though, here is the thing, in DX, just like in Rondo, the number of subweapons you can throw at once depends on the total number of hearts you have, but DX is less leniant about it than Rondo. In Rondo you can throw 3 subweapons at once if you have more than 30 hearts, but in DX it's more than 50.

And, if you die, you're given "only" about 65 hearts before the boss iirc; meaning that if you want to be able to throw 3 axe at once against the 2nd form, you need NOT to use it against the first form which can be a drag. It's fine to use against both forms however if you didn't die through the entire level.

The direction and movement of the small bats depends on where you are in relation to the big bat when you hit it. This can lead to some fuckery if you're in the air when it happens, but it's also easily exploitable.

This is dumb. The pits aren't a problem when you know what you're doing, you have 3 options:

>if you crouch and stay still, there is no knockback when you get hit

>depending on where you are, even if you get hit, you won't be knocked back into a pit

>in the worst case scenario, you can use Item Crash to bypass getting hit since they give long ass i-frames to you

Also, if you died and therefore only have about 50 hearts, save them for the 2nd form. The number of hearts dictates how many subweapons you can throw at once, with more than 30 hearts you can throw 3 at a time

>And the whole fucking game is like that.

It's really not. The ceiling bats are pretty much the only example of that kind of stuff and it's nowhere near that bad and they're not that numerous, in fact the only other instance of them past the first stage, is in an optional stage.

Also, your complaint can be summarized by "in this case the game won't let me cheap my way through enemies before they start posing the smallest challenge", but in reality DX is lot more leniant than Rondo and offers tons of ways to cheap your way through challenge if you want it.

A good example is how in Rondo, it takes to have 50 hearts to be able to throw 3 subweapons at a time, but in DX, it only takes to have 30. It's the one Castlevania game that lets you spam subweapons the most if you want to.
