/vr/ - Retro Games

Alright /vr/ I've only ever played tactical rpg until recently when I decided to play Chrono Trigger, I am wondering what else is deemed truly exceptional as a jrpg and would be worth looking into next.

I have some free time and I was wondering which classic JRPG I should play, but when it comes to deciding I've been feeling overwhelmed in terms of choice. Any platform is an option.

In terms of /vr/ JRPGs I have played:
Chrono Trigger
Earthbound
Final Fantasy 7
Pokemon GSC
Mario RPG
Paper Mario

I was considering choosing from Xenogears, SMT1, Persona 2, Grandia, Suikoden, but am open to suggestions.

I never watched vidya videos and thought very poorly of anyone who did. My new job is stone cold boring and now I have /vr/ longplays of games that I've already beaten on my second monitor all day while I do other things. Writing ETL scripts while FF6 runs in the background (with no commentary) is max comfy.

I want to make a chart to collect all the retro jrpgs. Maybe is too ambitious. Generally the tables that I see around here are too opinionated. Give me a hand /vr/ with some names.

I knew that there's also a Sega version and a playstation version. Anybody got them?

I'm trying to get a copy of FF4 without the shitty original translation, but I can't seem to find a copy of it.

I've been to the emulation wiki and dug through the sites, but they seem to only offer the crappy original release english.

I also went to romhacking.net and found a patch that I tried to apply to an untranslated rom I have of it, but it didn't end up working.

Used lips to try to apply the patch, don't know if I was supposed to use a different program.

Any help would be appreciated.
