I've heard as much from other people about ER, and i kind of see why. Not like i'm going to play it anytime soon and i'm not really compelled to try it anyway. They haven't one-upped themselves after sekiro, so i might as well just grind out something else until they top it.
Why anyone would want to play anything other than saturn-era RPGs is beyond me anyway. I'm still waiting on that wachenroder translation but once it's out i really have no reason to give a shit about new games anymore. I'm at a point in my life where i don't want to get new consoles anymore because of the cost and the doubt i'll get my money's worth in use out of them, but i don't mind dumping hundreds on single-game arcade boards (pic). If someone were to ask me, "would you rather buy a switch + games or a boxed neogeo Viewpoint boxed cart with instructions-" they wouldn't be able to finish their question because i'd be already jamming to this

that's a very good way to put it. Shit's unbalanced as wack from what i can tell. And yeah, they peaked with sekiro. I'd be hard pressed to remember a more engaging and fun combat system in even not-so-recent memory. It's their only game i got to ng+3 and it's still fun even though you start noticing you have more tools at your disposal than enemies to use them on.
Ah, now i'm craving some 3D ninja gaiden or some shinobi. That was some good shit.

you can't be any more wrong. If anything we're in the middle of a reinassance. We get ports, we get exa arcadia releases, we finally got the SDOJ ROM a few months ago, we're getting really nice doujin stuff, touhou is a thing, the genre is more popular than it has been for a decade. Shmup mechanics are popular in new games too.
