4. The pacing, aesthetic, music, and story give it great replay value.

Sorry man, I fucking hate that game. Hate the washed out graphics, hate the boring story, hate the dreadful pacing, hate the britbong voice acting.

Implications that Kain was cockblocked by Cecil?

Gotta love the cover art though, a shame GBA games still had those shitty cardboard boxes.

Love his work, I got a copy of "Think Like Amano" in the mail a couple weeks back and it inspired me to try out acrylics and gold leafing.
Not the retro boxart, but I remember hanging onto the box for the Advance release for months because I loved the art on it.

Also, same face art.
The series who prizes Amano.

Right anon, pick your criticisms a little less hypocritically next time.

Super Nintendo is the way to go. The original, best sound and graphics.

GBA has extra content, but has ugly portraits and is on the GBA (i.e. worse graphics and sound). Its ok.

Playstation has the special moves, but has to load. Also has ugly CGI. Avoid.

PSP version is pretty cool. The new character sprites are awful, but the HD tilesets and monster sprites are actually really good. For fans who have already played the original and want a variation on it.

And yes, I have and have beaten all those variations. FFIV is my favorite Final Fantasy game. Theoretically, the best version would be a fan translated version of the SFC game on flashcart, but that's not a retail release.

SNES? Final Fantasy 4 (2?). Everything about it is rad (well, except the part where all the characters die but don't really die, that's silly), and it never wastes your time with padding.

I love the sprites, love the music, love the setting, love the characters. I honestly think the SNES library of RPGs as a whole is wildly over-rated and most are forgettable garbage (just like the PSX RPG library), but if I had to choose a top RPG for ANY 16bit platform, this would be it.

FF IV never feels like its wasting my time (its actually quite short game by RPG standards, too). That plus great music and graphics (who cares if it just looks like upscaled 8bit, its very consistent in style).

My runner-up 2nd place FF games, VI and VII, DO often feel like they are wasting my time. And even if they both do get the feel of their worlds slightly better, the complete package isn't quite as good. Also, the FF6 tileset is ugly and clashes with the sprites.

I played FF4 for the first time on emulator nearly a decade after its release, despite being an SNES kid (never played any FF game except the crappy GB ones back in the 90s), and I was sucked in by the glorious 80s anime feel, music, and quick gameplay. Been my favorite ever since and I replay it frequently.
