>I don't think enough people know about the red egg trick.
Pretty sure that the game itself explains it, there's a level that has one of each egg on a pedestal and an explanation block nearby. I think it's the level with the baseball guys?
Eggs change colour after a few rebounds, yellow eggs create coins on hitting a target, red ones create stars, and flashing rainbow ones create red coins (you need these to get the missing red coins in Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy and maybe on some other levels too).

>I highly recommend the hack that makes the red coins visibly red.
Coins that hide a red coin have an orange tint in the game, you can easily see all of them without a romhack.

I don't get why you need easymode hacks like this, the game is piss easy as it is, I could easily 100% the game when I was a kid. Some of the levels in SMW1 were a lot more annoying than just about anything in Yoshi's Island. Only the secret maps are difficult, but they are extra challenge levels so that's normal.

I find that the "difficulty" is stemmed from beginner's traps. They never actually explain what enemies do what, so when you come across a new enemy, chances are, you'll get hit. This is fine for most games, but for Yoshi's Island, getting hit even once can fuck up your entire run, or even kill you. Not to mention, Yoshi's Island consistently hides enemies in the grass and foliage in the game, making them obscured and making it very likely to get hit. Another problem I find quite frequently is once you learn an enemies' patterns and means of attack, you're still not safe. Since the enemies are usually placed in annoying spots where they really shouldn't be. Also, the game is a fucking nightmare to complete 100%. I know most of this shit doesn't sound bad, even if you've played the game. But give it another try and see how quickly this game gets on your nerves.

it's fine, nothing groundbreaking, but pretty good for it's time and still holds up fairly well today.

>Yoshi's island
>hard

you've gotta be kidding me. There are maybe two ways to die in the ENTIRE GAME: 1. lose baby Mario, 2. fall in pits/lava/yellow spikes.
I think you can also get crushed at one point but I don't remember where.

As for Mario World, it's mediocre until you get the feather and then a blue Mario, after that you just fly through every stage. Heck, there's even an entire stage dedicated to giving you free items and lives with no enemies on screen.
