Not him, but what exactly does that mean/entail, that Unity is the front end? I always just assumed that Bethesda/Id/whoever made the port took the code from the original games and put it into Unity with some tweaks for the same of compatibility with it. Even then though, I don't understand why they used it instead of just using a premade source port (e.g. GZDoom or whatever) with the creator's permission and tweaked that for optimization for consoles, unless of course the source port's license doesn't allow for it for some reason but I doubt that'd be the case anyway. Keep in mind I don't know anything about programming, but the only possible reason for using Unity is for that fancy Doom 2016-esque credits sequence where it's a bunch of floating text and player/enemy sprites posed on one of the maps in a freeze-frame kinda style. Correct me if I'm being retarded at all, though.

Y'know, I'm a big hitscanner apologist, but fucking Jesus. Putting Arch-Viles in there would be less cruel, that at least gives you a window of time to flee back or forward.
